As
August begins, there are three aspects I recommend focusing on at
this time and throughout the year. The first is Instruction,
second is Physical Fitness,
and the third is Proper Club Fitting.
Sound fundamentals
are the bedrock of good, consistent play. First, Instruction
is an important key to improving your golf game. Make an appointment
to analyze your swing, examine your short game and of course, to
ensure proper fundamentals!
Secondly, Physical
Fitness is important. It is often neglected or overlooked.
Posture, balance, strength, flexibility and core stability are crucial
to fortifying and enhancing your golf fundamentals. To help my students
address this aspect of the golf game, I am teaming up with Jeff
Torockio, a physical therapist and owner of Sport and Family Physical
Therapy in Marriottsville, MD. Together, we can develop a plan to
address your specific physical deficits, assist you and educate
you with training and conditioning, and then tie them all together
as it relates to your golf swing.
Lastly, Proper
Club Fitting is essential. The type, fit, and
condition of your golf clubs is an important aspect to consider.
Would a cavity back or muscle back club suit you best? Are the lengths
of the clubs right for you? Is the grip size too large, too small
or just right? The "lie" of the club
is it what you
need? Does your golf shaft have the right flex point for you? Are
your grips worn and do they need replacing? Have the shafts been
bent? Are the grooves wearing out? These are significant questions
which need to be answered in order to capitalize on all areas of
your golf game. Together with the Turf Valley Pro Shop staff, we
can evaluate and supply you with your club needs.
My goal for you is
to have the best golf experience every time you go out to the course.
By addressing the three aspects I mentioned, you certainly will
realize a marked improvement to your game. Get a leg up on your
competition and schedule a golf lesson today!
